Some stamps with inscription 'INDONESIA MERDEKA' and 'REPOEBLIK INDONESIA':

These stamps were issued after the declaration of independance on 17 August 1945 by the areas controlled by the freedom fighters (just after the Japanese left). Stamps of Dutch Indies were used in parts of the country controlled by the Dutch.

I've also seen stamps with inscription 'N.R. INDONESIA'.

Most values exist with overprint 'RIS' (horizontally on certain values and vertically on other values).

 

In 1951 a new permanent set was issued (inscription 'REPUBLIK INDONESIA'), with a numeral design: 1 s black, 2 s lilac, 2 1/2 s brown, 5 s red, 7 1/2 s green, 10 s blue, 15 s violet, 20 s red and 25 s olive. Parliament: 30 s orange, 35 s violet, 40 s green, 45 s lilac, 50 s brown. Person: 60 s brown, 70 s grey, 75 s blue, 80 s lilac and 90 s green. President: 15 values ranging from 1 R to 50 R.


Japanese occupation of Netherlands Indies

Examples, many of these issues are 'dubious', moreover many forged overprints exist:

These stamps are used by the Japanese Navy for use in the Lesser Sunda Islands, Molucca Archipelago and Districts of Celebes and South Borneo.

Non issued stamps, Vienna issues

Inscription: 'REPOEBLIK INDONESIA' or 'REPUBLIK INDONESIA' printed by the 'Staatsdruckerei Wien' (written in small letters at the bottom of the stamps).

Many designs and values exist, also with overprint 'MERDEKA DJOKJAKARTA 6 DJULI 1949' or 'RESMI' (official stamps?).

Republik Maluku Selatan

Many designs were issued, mainly with animals or flowers, they were neve used in the terriotory they were intended to be used. These stamps are purely made for philatelic purposes. They were issued somewhere in the 1970's.


Postage Due Stamps

Some postage due stamps of Indonesia only have the inscription 'BAJAR PORTO' and the value in 'SEN'. They also exist with overprint 'IRIAN BARAT'.

Radio stamps

Several fiscal stamps with inscription 'METERAI RADIO' or 'SUMBANGAN KIRAN RADIO' exists (issued from 1950 onwards).

Other fiscal stamps exist with inscription Retributie (or Retributi), Imigrasi, Loonzegel, Meterai Upah. Also 'METERAI DAGANG PENGAWASAN' and 'METERAI DAGANG' (printed side by side). Also red circular seals with a palm tree with inscription 'ZEGEL VAN INDONESIA' or 'METERAI REPUBLIK INDONESIA'.
