A region between Germany and France. After world war I, it was under french administration. In 1935 Saarland stopped issuing stamps for a while when it became part of the Third Reich. After world war II it became part of the french zone and more stamps were issued in 1947. In 1959 the last stamps of Saarland, as it was called now, were issued. It then became part of Germany definitively. Be careful with the cancels of Saar, some cancelling devices have ended up in wrong hands!

This stamp was issued in a minisheet of 1 stamp with brown inscription.
200 F red
A forgery of this stamp exists, with 'H.V. PARIS FAUX' instead of 'H.V.PARIS' inscribed in the left bottom part. The perforation in the corners is also different.
Forgery
I've seen this forgery with the word 'FAUX' scratched out and cancelled 'SAARBRUCKEN 20 12 52. 1..'.
This stamp was also reprinted by Gehringer in 1970 for the SABRIA 70 stamp exhibition together with two other stamps of Saar. I've only seen it unperforated. It has 'SABRIA 70' printed on the back.
