Fiscal Stamps

Ellipse with crown, overprinted "TRINIDAD & TOBAGO"

Principality of Trinidad

Trinidad was an inhabited island in the Atlantic ocean off the coast of Brasil (this is not the same island as the Trinidad of 'Trinidad and Tobago'!). Some bogus stamps were issued for this island, inscribed in French 'Principauté de Trinidad', and 'Timbre Poste et Fiscal'. These stamps are unofficial stamps of a man who made himself King James the First of Trinidad.

(Reduced size)

I have also seen the values: 5 c green and black, 10 c orange and black, 25 c blue and black 50 c yellow and black, 75 c lilac and black and 1 F red and black.

There also seems to exist some postal stationery, however I've never seen this.

Propaganda Stamp

A propaganda stamp was issued by the Germans during World War II; a forged 3 p Great Britain King George VI stamp with overprint "LIQUIDATION OF EMPIRE TRINIDAD". More info on these forgeries can be found here.
