BERLIN

(For the city of Berlin and Brandenburg), Berlin bear

Two stamps with zig-zag perforation in between

  5 p green
  6 p violet
  8 p red
  10 p brown
  12 p red
  20 p blue
  30 p green

These stamps exist with normal perforation but also with so-called zig-zag perforation (see some examples above).

All values exist with overprint 'Sowjetische Besatzungs Zone' (1948, on perforated stamps).

Various local overprints exist, examples:

Stadt Storkow +10 overprints

Fredersdorf overprint (see there)

Stamps with overprint 'Berlin im Aufbau' (in three lines) are bogus issues.

Besides these local issues for Berlin, many local stamps were issued in the 19th century, see under Germany local stamps.

THURINGEN (Thuringia)

(Thuringen 'WIR BAUEN BRUCKEN'; 'we build bridges')

Note that the backside of the above stamp has so-called 'spargummu', circular spots which don't have any gum (because of the after-war conditions, not much gum was availalbe). The following values exist in this serie (4 values: 10 p + 60 p violet, 12 p + 68 p red, 16 p + 74 p blue and 24 p + 76 p brown).

Other stamps issued for Thuringen are: a posthorn with letter (6 p green, 8 p orange), a tree (3 p brown, 4 p grey and 5 p green) and famous persons (12 p red, 20 p blue, 30 p grey):

Goethe
(4 p tree, 6 p posthorn with letter and 20 p Goethe)

I've seen the values 3 p, 4 p and 5 p in a mini-sheet with inscription 'WEIHNACHTSSPENDE 1945 FUR DIE OPFER DES FASCISMUS'.

The next stamp is a forgery of this stamp made by the forger Peter Winter.

I've also seen a forgery of Peter Winter of the 6 p black value (without Russian text).
