Typical caneel 'TI' (Turks Islands):
('TI' cancel)
Forgeries, example:
Forgeries made by Oneglia, examples:
The front of the bust of Queen Victoria seems not to touch its containing ellipse in these forgeries. Also note the typical 'white eye'. I've seen this forgery with a 'Star' watermark. This watermark was probably made with grease or something. Apparently, not all these forgeries have this watermark. Sometimes these forgeries are also attributed to the forger Panelli.
Spiro forgeries:
Forgeries made by Spiro also exist, they can easily be recognized by their typical Spiro cancels. I have seen the 1 p red, 6 p grey and 1 Sh blue. These forgeries are also described in 'The Spud Papers XIV'. They are poorly lithographed with no watermark, the mouth has a sour expression, the point of the chin is sharp and the lettering of the labels is too short. Note that there are guidelines between these forgeries.
(Other forgery of the '2 1/2' on 6 p blue, the '2 1/2' is also
printed in blue)
Another rather primitive forgery of the 1 p value.
And another forgery of the 1 p value
Two forgeries of the 6 p value; next to it a 1 Sh forgery,
possibly made by the same forger.
(A forged '1/2' overprint on a genuine stamp)
1/2 p green 2 1/2 p brown 2 1/2 p blue 4 p blue 4 p grey 4 p lilac and blue
These stamps have perforation 14.
