From 1949 onwards airmail stamps of France, with overprint 'CFA' and surcharged with new value were used in Reunion.

Fiscal stamps

1873 Inscription 'TAXE D'ENGAGEMENT'

Several types exist with the embossed eagle or the seal turned in different positions. The values 2 F, 4 F, 6 F 8 F and 10 F were issued (all in red and black on yellow):

Reduced sizes

The surrounding lines are now in blue, 'ENGAGEMENT' also, the paper is yellow. There are two black circles printed in the stamp. Several overprints exist. The values 3 F, 6 F, 9 F, 12 F and 15 F exist. In 1882 the values 5F25, 10F50 and 15F75 were added. The values 4 F, 8 F, 16 F and 20 F were issued in 1884.
